Miss Jamie & the Farm Hands
A dedicated kids performer bringing high-energy, interactive farm-themed fun to one of Elgin's most popular summer series. Your littles will be dancing before the first chorus.
BenAnna Band
Crystal Lake Park District's Summer Sing-A-Long Series delivers a morning music blast at the lake. Bring blankets, chairs, and the whole family. Free juice & fruit snacks provided (while supplies last). Julie Ann's Frozen Custard on site.
Junkyard Groove
High-energy fun at the iconic Wing Park Bandshell — one of the Fox Valley's great outdoor music spots. Bring the lawn chairs and let the older kids run.
Wildwood Country
Nashville chart-toppers come to the Fox River. Geneva's River Park is a stunning venue — big grassy area, beautiful water views, and room for kids to spread out. Country classics the whole family can enjoy.
No Limits Sound Band
Disco, rock, funk and pop hits at one of Batavia's most beloved summer series — right along the Fox River. Rotation of food vendors on site each week. The river setting alone is worth the trip.
Eugene "Talking Sax" Peebles
The man makes his saxophone literally talk — kids will be equal parts confused and mesmerized. Jazz and soul like this is actually educational. You're welcome.
The Throwbacks
High-energy classic rock from a bygone era — played with a modern punch. Parents, this one's also for you. River Park + classic rock + a cooler full of snacks = a perfect Wednesday.
The Yacht Rockettes
70s and 80s hits in one of the most fun names in the region. Smooth vibes along the Fox River with food vendors on site. Easy, breezy Wednesday evening energy.
Heartache Tonight
Eagles classics at Algonquin's beloved Towne Park. Food vendors starting at 6 PM — get there early and claim your spot. Older kids who grew up hearing these songs will appreciate this more than they'll admit.
Mr. Myers — "Caribbean Rock"
Reggae, soca, calypso, beach music and originals — dubbed "Caribbean Rock." Hands down one of the most unique sounds of the summer season. Kids naturally want to move to this. Food truck: Chianti's Italian Carryout.
Sgt. Sauerkraut's Polka Band
Listen, polka gets a bad rap. Kids who have never heard it will be absolutely baffled — and then they'll be dancing before they realize it. This is the sleeper hit of the summer. Trust the process.
Jessie's Girl
Rick Springfield tribute — 80s pop-rock perfection. If your kids have seen "Stranger Things," they've basically already been prepped for this. Food vendors open at 6 PM.
The StingRays
Rockabilly and oldies with an interactive twist — The StingRays get the crowd involved, which means kids actually have a role in the show. This one tends to get rowdy in the best possible way. Cook's Ice Cream Truck on site.
Serendipity
Closing out the Elgin Concerts in the Park season in style. Lords Park is a gorgeous setting — if you haven't made it out all summer, this one's a great last hurrah before the school year creeps back in.
Shout Out Band
Algonquin's summer series finale. Towne Park's Jerry Kautz Pavilion is a great outdoor setting and the food vendor lineup makes this feel like a real community event. A proper end to a great summer.

Tips for Concert Night with Kids
20+ years in real estate means 20+ years of navigating this region. Here's what actually works.
Arrive Early — Always
The best grass spots go fast, especially at River Park and Wing Park. Get there 30 minutes before showtime, lay your blanket, and let the kids burn energy before the music starts.
Pack Like You Mean It
Blanket, low-back lawn chairs, a cooler with drinks and snacks, sunscreen, bug spray, and a small activity bag for little ones who tap out early. Don't rely solely on vendors — lines get long.
Check Rainout Lines
Illinois weather has opinions. Every series has a rainout line or website — save the number before you head out. Nothing worse than loading up three kids and finding a canceled show.
Budget for Treats
Food trucks and vendors at these events are part of the experience. Bring cash — not all vendors take cards. The $7 ice cream is worth every penny when it's 85° and your 6-year-old is thrilled.
Dress for the Grass
Skip the white pants and the dress shoes. Grass stains are the price of admission, especially when there's a good dance groove happening. Casual wins every time.
Know Your Exit Strategy
Parking at some venues (like Geneva's River Park) fills up. Know alternate lots. And if you've got toddlers, park close enough to make a graceful exit when the meltdown arrives. And it will arrive.
Community Culture Sells Homes — For Good Reason
These free summer concerts aren't just nice to have. They're a window into exactly why families fight over homes in these communities.
When buyers tour a home and I tell them about a 14-week concert series at the park down the street — free, walkable, with food trucks and a packed community crowd — I watch their eyes light up. That's not a housing feature. That's a lifestyle. And in the Fox Valley and McHenry County, it's baked in.
Elgin
Wing Park + Lords Park concerts draw hundreds weekly. Strong park infrastructure means strong community investment.
Geneva
River Park is one of the Fox Valley's crown jewels. If the free concert doesn't sell you on Geneva, nothing will.
Crystal Lake
Kids Sing-A-Longs at the lake, Moana 2 at Main Beach, year-round programming — CLPD is the real estate bonus nobody talks about.
Algonquin & Batavia
Towne Park and Peg Bond Center deliver riverfront concert experiences that rival paid venues. The quality of life here is genuinely underrated.
