Huntley Summer Guide 2026

McHenry County Summer Guide 2026
Huntley's Summer Scene Is Something Else
Tuesday night concerts in Town Square. Saturday morning farmers market with themed weekly events. A Fourth of July fireworks show. A Movie in the Park. A parade. National Night Out. And Fall Fest — the three-day community celebration that's been packing Huntley every September for over 20 years. This is small-town summer, done right.
"Huntley figured out something a lot of bigger towns haven't: if you build a beautiful Town Square and actually program it all summer, people will show up every single week. And they do."
Huntley has one of the most charming historic downtowns in McHenry County, and the village has made a deliberate investment in making that square the center of community life — not just for special occasions, but every Tuesday evening and every Saturday morning all summer long.
The Concerts on the Square series brings free live music to the downtown every Tuesday from June through early August. The Saturday Farmers Market fills the square with fresh produce, artisan vendors, and themed event days all the way through October. In between, there's a parade, fireworks, a movie night, community engagement events, and the beloved Fall Fest — a three-day festival that draws people from across the northwest suburbs every September.
Huntley punches well above its weight class on community events. Here's everything you need to know to make the most of summer here.
🎸 Tuesday Evenings · June 9 – August 4 · Free
Concerts on the Square
The centerpiece of Huntley's summer. Seven Tuesday evenings of free outdoor music right in the heart of Town Square — from rock and blues to country and tribute acts. Grab dinner at one of the downtown restaurants first, or bring your own spread. The music starts at 7 and wraps at 8:30. Just bring a chair.
Huntley Farmers Market — More Than Just Produce
Huntley Town Square Farmers Market
Every Saturday from late May through mid-October, the Huntley Farmers Market takes over Town Square at Coral and Church Streets. Local vendors bring fresh produce, artisanal crafts, baked goods, and specialty foods — plus themed event days throughout the season that make each week its own little celebration.
Every Saturday, 9:00 AM – 1:00 PM
Coral & Church Streets, Huntley
No excuses to skip it. Pack a bag and go.
Second Saturday of the month, November–April · Legion Hall, 11712 Coral St
Bonus: the beloved Tom's Farm Market on Algonquin Rd has been serving the Huntley community for years with fresh seasonal produce, fall pumpkins, and seasonal events of their own.
🎉 2026 Themed Market Days
Follow the Village of Huntley on social media for themed day dates — these typically aren't announced until closer to the season. Christmas in July always draws a crowd.
Huntley's Full Summer Lineup
Concerts and a market are just the start. Huntley stacks the calendar with community events from June through September — most of them free, all of them worth showing up for.
Huntley's second annual Independence Parade rolls at 10 AM through the heart of downtown. The route starts at Main & Bakley, heads down Main Street to the Square, turns right on Woodstock Street, and finishes along First Street.
Huntley goes big on the Fourth with a fireworks show at Deicke Park starting at approximately 9:30 PM. Grab a spot, pack snacks, and don't plan on leaving before 10. This is the one you want to be at.
Huntley Police officers and Special Olympics athletes team up at Culver's to collect donations for the Law Enforcement Torch Run for Illinois Special Olympics. Show up, eat lunch, and tip generously — it all goes to a great cause.
Bring blankets, lawn chairs, and your favorite snacks to Parisek Park for a free outdoor showing of the 2004 classic Miracle. Food trucks roll in around 6 PM, movie starts at dusk. A great family evening.
National Night Out is a community-building celebration promoting police-community partnerships. Huntley goes all in: Police vs. Fire softball game, community activities 5–7 PM in Town Square, then the season finale Concert on the Square with Hillbilly Rockstarz at 7.
The Huntley Hootenanny celebrates the community's farm roots with a glow-in-the-dark 5K that sells out fast — they cap it at 3,000 runners. Proceeds fund classroom initiative grants and student scholarships. It's fun, it's for a great cause, and you need to register early.
The Event Huntley Lives For Every September
Fall Fest isn't just a festival — it's a rite of passage for Huntley residents. Three days, hundreds of volunteers, generous business sponsors, civic organizations, and the whole community coming together for one weekend every September. This year: September 25–27.
The lineup is everything you'd want from a hometown fall festival: live entertainment across three days, a beer garden, food vendors, a full carnival midway with rides and games, fall activities, and — because Huntley doesn't do anything halfway — a fireworks display Saturday night. It's the perfect punctuation mark on a great summer.
If you're considering a move to Huntley, Fall Fest is the event we'd point you to first. You'll understand the community the moment you show up. Watch the official Fall Fest website for performers and full event details as they're released closer to the date.
The Jones Team — On Huntley
"Huntley is one of those markets that surprises people when they actually start looking at it seriously. From the outside, you see the growth — the new construction, the Route 47 corridor, the D-158 school district — and you might assume it's all sprawl and strip malls. Then you discover the Town Square, the Tuesday night concerts, the Fall Fest, and the actual community that exists here.
Huntley has a small-town soul that survived a very fast growth period, and that's genuinely hard to maintain. The fact that people show up every Tuesday evening to listen to free live music in their downtown says a lot about where the community's priorities are.
For buyers — especially families — Huntley checks a lot of boxes. D-158 schools are strong, price points are generally competitive compared to Kane County communities with similar infrastructure, and the quality-of-life programming the village invests in is real and consistent. We work in Huntley regularly and love showing it to buyers who haven't given it a fair look yet."
Why Huntley Makes Sense in 2026
Huntley sits in McHenry County along the Route 47 corridor, offering relatively easy commute access to both the I-90 corridor and the Route 20/31 network. The village is served by Huntley Community School District 158 — a highly regarded K–12 district that includes Huntley High School, which consistently earns strong ratings for academics, athletics, and extracurricular programming.
The community includes a mix of established neighborhoods (some with significant mature landscaping and larger lots) and newer master-planned developments. Sun City — a 55+ active adult community by Del Webb — is one of the largest active adult developments in the Chicago area and puts Huntley on the map for buyers looking for that lifestyle in the northwest suburbs.
The commercial corridor along Randall Road and Route 47 provides substantial retail and dining options without requiring long drives. And as the summer calendar above makes clear, the village invests meaningfully in programming and quality of life for all its residents.
