"The Dundee Township Park District is the unsung hero of summer in this part of Kane County. Four communities, one incredible park district — and a summer calendar that would make a lot of bigger cities jealous."

The Dundee Township Park District serves the communities of Carpentersville, East Dundee, West Dundee, and Sleepy Hollow with a network of parks, facilities, and programming that genuinely anchors quality of life in this corner of the Fox Valley. If you live anywhere in the DTPD footprint, this is where summer happens.

The hallmark of the summer season is the Concerts in the Park series — seven consecutive Tuesday evenings of free live music at parks throughout the district, co-sponsored by all four villages. The concerts rotate locations so every community gets the stage, and the Dundee Township Lions Club provides food and drinks at each event (with Kona Ice, obviously). It's the kind of programming that builds community pride — one Tuesday at a time.

Beyond concerts, the DTPD runs Randall Oaks Zoo with a full summer event calendar, the Wild Market at the Zoo every Sunday through August, Summer Nights at the Zoo, Dolphin Cove Family Aquatic Center, two golf courses, two fitness centers, and the Splash Pad at Huffman Park. Here's your complete guide to making the most of it all.

🎆 Fireworks & Community Event — June 27

The DTPD coordinates a Fireworks Show and Community Event on Saturday, June 27 — bringing the four-village community together for a pre-Fourth celebration. Details on the specific location and community event programming are available on the DTPD calendar at dtpd.org.

This aligns with the same June 27 weekend that East Dundee and Carpentersville host their own community celebrations — meaning the entire Dundee Township area goes big together. If you're in the area that weekend, there's no shortage of things going on.

The DTPD also hosts Free Yoga in the Park on select summer mornings — a gentle way to start a Saturday before the weekend events ramp up. Check the DTPD calendar for dates and locations.

The Jones Team — On Why DTPD Matters for Buyers

"Here's something we genuinely talk about with buyers looking at communities in the Dundee Township area: the park district is one of the best arguments for the neighborhood.

When you buy a home in Carpentersville, East Dundee, West Dundee, or Sleepy Hollow, you're also buying access to the Dundee Township Park District — the zoo, the aquatic center, two golf courses, two fitness centers, the splash pad, and a summer programming calendar that most park districts three times its size can't match.

The Tuesday Concerts in the Park series is a perfect example. Seven weeks of free live music rotating through all four communities — co-sponsored by the villages themselves. That's a park district and four municipalities working together to deliver programming that directly improves daily life for residents. That's not an accident. That's a community that has its priorities straight.

For families evaluating neighborhoods, ask yourself: where will we spend our summer? If the answer involves a zoo, an outdoor waterpark, free concerts, a splash pad, and summer camps all within a few miles of home — that's the DTPD. We work in these communities regularly and we believe in what they offer. Let's find you a home here."

The DTPD Communities: What Buyers Need to Know

The four communities served by the Dundee Township Park District sit in a particularly attractive stretch of Kane County. Carpentersville, East Dundee, West Dundee, and Sleepy Hollow each have distinct characters — from East Dundee's boutique downtown along the Fox River to West Dundee's charming historic core to Carpentersville's growing residential neighborhoods to Sleepy Hollow's quieter, wooded residential feel — but they all benefit from shared infrastructure, including the park district, the Randall Road retail corridor, and access to the Fox River Trail.

All four communities are served by Community Unit School District 300, which includes Dundee-Crown High School. D-300 is one of the largest districts in Illinois and offers multiple program pathways. The district also serves parts of Algonquin and Gilberts. Buyers with school-age children should look carefully at which elementary and middle school attendance boundaries apply to specific addresses.

Price points across the four villages vary meaningfully — West Dundee and East Dundee tend to carry a slight premium for their downtown proximity and character, while Carpentersville and Sleepy Hollow often offer more house for the money. The Jones Team knows all four markets and can walk you through current inventory, recent sale data, and what your budget realistically gets you in each community.
